Chapter 1 a.
It was dark out. Not that it's ever truly bright around here, even during the day. Sunset was about to end it seemed. As i walked along the empty streets of Falloway, I tried to stay in the shadows. The local guards had already lit the street lights, probably due to the thick feeling in the air. Falloway was a quite town by rights. Though they didnt like me much i'll tell ya. Even in the failing light one could see the storm coming, above the house tops. Not one to venture to town much, I tend to stick to the forests near it's edge. When im here in this place, it's easier that way. People round here tend to get spooked easily. Tonights different though, i seek an old friend of mine, one who has summoned me... To talk. Though i don't know why.
A flash in the distance lights up the sky. As the last fading purple orange mixture of dusk and darkness settles behind the mountains, the locals scramble to their homes. Trying to beat the storm. It was coming fast.
Looking skywards I whisper, "Whats going on I wonder" speaking more to the sky then to myself. Something was happening, somewhere. I could feel it. "oh the planes'd be moving today I'll tell ya" I chuckled to myself. Thunder rumbled through the air. I tilted my hat down, slowly making my way through the streets towards my destination. Avoiding eye contact with anyone passing by, as that was usually enough to start some trouble. It's never been easy to blend in here.
Turning left down a sideroad I close in on where i am to meet Morvin. Though i would have preffered him to have come to see me in the the safety of the woods, but he stressed the point of my presence needed at his house. Considering the night's atmosphere i thought of quickening my pace.
Another flash lights up the sky and it starts to rain, almost as if it was waiting for a sign. Yes indeed something big was about to happen. I knew it.

Chapter 1 b.
As the young boy opens his schoolbag, he reaches in eagerly to pull out a package. He could hardly contain himself. Smiling ear to ear the boy holds up a large book bag, containing a gift from a special friend. Waiting all day school had felt like it took forever for Derek. Mr.Turnsteer the bookeeper at the school had been promising Derek a book of "great tales" for weeks now. Picking it up before school started, Derek finally had it in his hands. Pulling it out of the protective leather bag it was in, the book seemed heavy in his long boney hands. His eyes wide with wonder, Derek glides his hand over the cover.
"The Scarecrow" the boy gasps, staring at the title above the strange symbol embedded in the middle of the book. Derek had never seen such a symbol. "two snakes entwined" it seemed strange yet at the same time familiar to him. Suddenly he had the urge to find out what it was. Knowing the answer must be contained within these pages, he slowly turned the cover and began to read.

Chapter 1 c.
Dragging it's weapon behind it, the small impish creature slowly sleeks it's way across a cold stone cobbled floor. The narrow walls of the hall way leading him inevitably to what the creature thought would be its doom. "Oh no,no no no" It muttered into the dimly lit hallway. "Poor poor Krill" the creature sulked as it walked. "Our lord master will please be good to poor poor old Krill". As the imp approached the royal chambers of Ofary he swallowed, hard. The once beautiful white pillars that marked the entrance to the throne room of Ofary stood crumbled. A vague memory of what they once were and what they had represented. These things did not mean anything anymore, well atleast not to Krill. Atleast not now or ever for that matter. As the small impish creature tip-toed through the archway such things meant nothing to it, Krill was trembling.
"Well" boomed a voice from within the large darkened room. "Come forth my servant". Pausing the self appointed ruler of Ofary stood. The dim light from the torches around his throne shone off of his dented and scarred helmet, which happened to cover his entire face. Making him all the more intimidating to poor old Krill. "What news comes to us from the north". With open arms the large scary man descended the steps of his throne. Looming over the small terrified imp, even at a distance. "umm-mm-mm". Krill began to speak. "My llo-lord Rastis". "I-I-I bbb-bbring you nn-news fr-om th-the battle a-at Fervins He-Heart". The small soldier could barely speak, as he knew what he had to tell his lord was enough to be killed right there on the spot. Angered by the imp's stuttering the king yelled at Krill "Stop muttering about you fool, out with it NOW". Rastis took a swing at the imp barely missing his head.
"Gah" screamed Krill as he jumped back frightened,. Mustering up all his courage in the face of fear Krill cowered holding his head, and spat out his report. "We
f-f-failed my lord", "We-wev'e captured the-the scribe and have t-t-taken Fervin's Heart". Rastis impatient now grabs his helpless soldier by the neck and squeezes slightly. Staring down at the quivering mess of an imp, Rastis asks his servant. "Then what do you mean you've failed" . Choking now and scared for his life the imp squeaks out what he was told to say. "The d-device ha-has". Before Krill can even finish his sentence, the air is crushed out of his vocal cords. As Rastis squeezes the life out of the imp, one final noise is let out of Krill's mouth before his former king discards his lifeless body. Tossing it to the side. "Aaeeuuakk"
Before it even touches the ground Krill's body is snatched up from the shadows, by some unseen power or demon. The king barely notices as he plans his next move. "So the device has moved on". Rastis whispers now seemingly alone. "But it cannot help them now my child", a womans voice calls out into the darkness.
From behind the man who now calls himself the king of Ofary a glow starts to illuminate the room. Turning around to address the presence the king bows to one knee, his metal armor scraping on the stone tiled floor. "My mistress forgive me, for we have failed". From the greenish glowing form a woman walks out onto the throne room floor. "Worry not my child" she calmly says to him. "We have already won this war, its just a matter of time". The pale clad woman looks down now at the huge mass crouched at her feet. "Let them try to seek help, we will be ready".

Chapter 1 c.
Deep within the forests of the Northern Reach, as they were known to be. An ancient being stirs. On a small hill in the center of a clearing lies a large and ancient tree. Suddenly the old and tired wood begins to creak and move. "Ragnost" A voice out of the air beckons. From within the tree slowly a form begins to shape itself, branches and roots begin to retract as the being begins to awaken. "Old and powerful the energy is within these waters" again the strange voice begins to speak.
As rain begins to fall on the small clearing where the guardian once sat and waited, Ragnost the Tremian begins to rise. All but extinct, his people used to protect the forests of the Northern Reach. Though they are sparse and fairly spread out now, few of his brethern still remain. "You must go now Ragnost" says the voice, as a small human like head protrudes from the mass of shrinking wood and bark."The librarian is in trouble".
As the shape of a man begins to take form, Ragnost keeper of East Loche Forest, begins to speak. "Right away my lord i shall find him and bring him here". With that Ragnost was off. A shadow within the trees as he moved easily within the living breathing walls of his home.

Chapter 2 a.
"Come in Toray" quickly Morvin grabbed me by the sleve and tugged me inside. As i shuffled in his narrow doorway, he pulled me deeper into his house. Which also doubled as his laboratory while he was in town. "Come follow me" letting go of my arm he quickened his pace. Walking past his many experiments and gadgets I couldnt help but wonder at some of them. Many i figured would have something to do with other realms. He was always talking about realms and how we would visit many in my time, perhaps together. Quickly though I turned my attention to the matter at hand. Who knows what was about to happen.
Stopping at a door with a wheel for a handle i tempted to ask. "what is it old friend, why have you summoned me here". The short ugly man whom i cared much for looked at me with distaste. "Impatient as always i see". after a moments pause he continued "I swear young toraylin, that will be the death of you someday". With that he pulled a lever and turned the wheel. With a release of pressure and steam the door opened. Something was wrong.
I shrugged and followed the old man down a staircase that spiraled into the earth. As the door shut behind us to my amazement bright lights flashed on all around us. "What is this place" I asked. Turning around Morvin smiled nervously. "Its a secret place". This made me worry. "Morvin whats goin on seriously". At that the dwarven like alchemist stopped dead in his tracks, looking up into my eyes he layed a hand upon my shoulder. "In all the years I've known you Toraylin you've seen me age". "Yes" i replied confused at this point. "I am an old man now" he stammered. I could see a sadness in his eyes that ive not seen before. "What" I raised my voice a little showing my concern.
"There are many things i would tell you if we had the time, like where you came from. Who you are". At that he looked up into my eyes again, and his sadness was replaced with fear. "Theyre coming" He whispered. "Come".
With that thunder shook the ground around us. Something was happening upstairs. I had a feeling he was right. "Yes old friend, let us continue"

Chapter 2 b.
It was getting late, and Derek had to get up early to make lunch for his little brother before school tomorrow. Yet as he turned on his small bedside lamp his amazment sank in. As he read, his head filled with the mysteries of this Toraylin character and what was going on in this "Fantasia". Turning the pages Derek lost track of time and nodded off to sleep, book in hand.
~While asleep Derek Dreams~
"Derek" whispered a voice in the dark. "Whos there" pondered the young boy. Darkness filled his vision. "Turn around" came the voice but from behind him. Turning around suddenly off in the distance the boy could barely see it but a light started to shine, though it seemed far off. Scared of the darkness around him, Derek started towards the light . Seemingly not getting any closer to the light Derek started to run. "Help us" again the voice called to him. Panicking now Derek could see "things" around him and behind him. Terrified now as the monsters drew closer he screamed. The light started to get brighter and brighter began to blind him. Painfully Derek tried to shield his eyes while he ran stumbling. Tripping on his own feet he fell.
As if there was never any floor to begin with the boy screaming for all his life fell, and kept falling. The light drew all around him now. shutting out all darkness. It burned now like fire blistering his skin and burning out his nerves, as he let out one final scream Derek could hear the voice one last time. "Save yourself"...."Derek"
